Jefferson County, AL (BuzzReport) — A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an ongoing investigation into cable theft in Jefferson County, authorities confirmed.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began on Friday, March 13, 2026, at approximately 2:00 p.m., when detectives were notified of a possible AT&T cable theft in the 1400 block of Warrior Jasper Road.
While responding to the area, a detective observed a male suspect driving a gold Chevrolet Impala uphill toward a section of downed AT&T cable along the roadside. Investigators noted that the location had been linked to prior cable theft incidents, prompting the detective to turn around and investigate further.

As the detective attempted to make contact, the suspect fled the scene, initiating a search by both detectives and patrol deputies in the surrounding area.
Authorities later located the suspect vehicle traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 78. A traffic stop was conducted without incident, and the driver was taken into custody. During the arrest, investigators recovered an electric cutting tool along with other items believed to be burglary tools.
The suspect has been identified as 26-year-old Eric Millwood. He faces multiple charges, including first-degree theft of property, criminal mischief, and possession of burglary tools. Bond was set at a total of $11,000, and Millwood has since been released from the Jefferson County Jail.
Officials say cable theft has been an ongoing issue in parts of Jefferson County, often resulting in costly infrastructure damage and service disruptions for residents and businesses. Investigators are continuing to examine whether Millwood may be connected to additional incidents in the area.
