Pensacola, FL (BuzzReport) — A 2-year-old child has died following a two-vehicle crash in Pensacola, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
In a news release issued Monday, March 23, troopers said the fatal crash occurred on March 20 at the intersection of North U Street and Jordan Street.
Preliminary findings indicate that a Ford Escape was traveling southbound on North U Street approaching the intersection, while a Nissan Titan was traveling westbound on Jordan Street. Investigators say the Ford Escape failed to stop at a stop sign and entered the intersection, where its front end collided with the right side of the Nissan Titan.
The impact forced both vehicles off the roadway, where they came to rest on the shoulder of Jordan Street facing south, authorities said.
The 2-year-old child, who was a passenger in the Ford Escape, died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
Two adults also traveling in the Ford Escape—a 24-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman—were critically injured and transported for emergency medical treatment. Their current conditions have not been updated.
The Nissan Titan was occupied by five individuals, including a 3-year-old child. All occupants in that vehicle suffered minor injuries, according to troopers.
The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. Authorities have not released the identities of those involved.
