Watson, LA (BuzzReport) — Authorities in Livingston Parish are investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a 26-year-old man Wednesday evening at a McDonald’s in Watson.
According to the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the restaurant near the intersection of Highway 16 and Springfield Road at approximately 7 p.m. on March 18, 2026, following reports of a shooting.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered a man inside a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. The victim, later identified as 26-year-old Mitchell Ventress, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said the victim was initially discovered by a McDonald’s employee, who alerted authorities. Emergency medical personnel were dispatched but later canceled after it was determined Ventress had succumbed to his injuries.
Following the shooting, authorities launched an investigation that led to the identification of multiple suspects. Three individuals were later taken into custody and identified as 25-year-old Kevonta Dennis, 39-year-old Keedrick Jack, and 26-year-old Keondra McNeely.
Officials reported that investigators located a vehicle believed to be connected to the suspects in the Central area. Dennis and McNeely were inside the vehicle at the time it was stopped and were subsequently detained.
As the investigation progressed, detectives executed a search warrant at an apartment on Sully Drive, where additional individuals were brought in for questioning.
According to authorities, Dennis and Jack had arranged to meet Ventress in the McDonald’s parking lot prior to the shooting. During that encounter, for reasons that remain under investigation, Ventress was shot and killed.
All three suspects are currently being held and are expected to be transferred to the Livingston Parish Detention Center. Officials have not yet released details regarding potential charges.
The investigation remains active as detectives continue working to determine the circumstances and motive behind the deadly shooting.
