Conroe, TX (BuzzReport) — A violent domestic incident in Conroe, Texas, roughly 40 miles north of Houston, left two women dead Monday afternoon after authorities say a man deliberately crashed his vehicle into a home before carrying out a fatal shooting.
According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 2 p.m. to a residence on Shoreview Drive following reports of a crash and gunfire. Investigators say 57-year-old Stanley Earl Hardin drove a black GMC Sierra pickup truck directly into the front of the home, causing extensive structural damage.
The impact tore through the home’s exterior, ripping apart vinyl siding, insulation, and a large front window before the vehicle became lodged inside the residence. Authorities allege that after the crash, Hardin exited the truck, entered the home, and opened fire.
Inside, deputies found 50-year-old Tara Hardin and her 80-year-old mother, Floris Wolford, both suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency responders pronounced both women dead at the scene.
Sheriff Wesley Doolittle said Tara Hardin had called 911 moments before the shooting, reporting that her estranged husband had just crashed into the house and was attempting to enter. That call, officials say, provides critical insight into the moments leading up to the attack.
Investigators confirmed that the couple had been in a long-term relationship and shared adult children. However, Tara Hardin had recently separated from her husband and had been staying with her mother at the Shoreview Drive residence.
Following the shootings, authorities say Hardin fled the scene on foot. He reportedly went to his son’s home, requested a ride to his own residence approximately five miles away, and remained there until later surrendering to law enforcement without incident.
Hardin, described by officials as a military veteran, has been charged with two counts of capital murder. He is currently being held in the Montgomery County Jail without bond.
Sheriff Doolittle described the घटना as a “tragic and senseless act of violence,” emphasizing the devastating impact on the victims’ family and the broader community.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence and piece together the full sequence of events leading up to the deadly confrontation.
