Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) — Two women have been arrested following a violent altercation that left a woman injured Saturday evening in Mobile, according to police.

The Mobile Police Department reported that officers responded to the 2700 block of Bank Avenue at approximately 5:23 p.m. on March 14, 2026, after receiving reports of an assault.

When officers arrived at the scene, they located a female victim suffering from visible injuries that authorities say were sustained during the incident. The victim was transported to a local hospital by personal vehicle to receive medical treatment. Police have not released details regarding the extent of her injuries.

During the investigation, officers determined the victim had been involved in a physical altercation with two women known to her shortly before police arrived.

Investigators said the situation escalated during the confrontation when one of the suspects reportedly picked up the victim’s handgun and used it to strike the victim in the head, causing injuries.

Following the investigation, police arrested Shawanda Smith, 39, and Mikiyia Whitfield, 19, in connection with the assault. Both suspects were taken into custody and transported to the Mobile Metro Jail, where they were booked.

Authorities have not yet released additional details about the circumstances leading up to the altercation or the charges the suspects may face.

The incident remains under investigation.
