Autauga County, AL (BuzzReport) — A man already wanted on child pornography charges is now facing additional, more serious charges after authorities say he opened fire on law enforcement officers attempting to take him into custody Wednesday night in Autauga County.

According to investigators, Taylor Cox, 28, was located at a residence on County Road 165 where authorities believed he was hiding. As officers approached the property to execute the arrest, Cox allegedly fired several shots in the direction of law enforcement.

Officials said no officers were struck during the gunfire.

Law enforcement personnel secured the scene, and Cox later surrendered to authorities without further incident. He was taken into custody and transported for booking.

Cox had previously been wanted on two felony counts of possession of child pornography. Following the confrontation with police, he is now also charged with attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, according to authorities.

Officials confirmed that no injuries were reported during the incident.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue reviewing the circumstances surrounding the shooting and Cox’s alleged involvement in the child pornography case. Additional charges could be possible as the investigation develops.
