YORK, Ala. (BuzzReport) — A high-speed pursuit that began outside Choctaw County ended in a crash Tuesday after the suspect vehicle crossed county lines and reached speeds of nearly 100 miles per hour, according to authorities. The Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office said deputies assisted the York Police Department and law enforcement officials in Sumter County when a pursuit entered Choctaw County. Officials say the driver turned onto Ward Chapel Road, accelerating to speeds approaching 100 miles per hour as deputies attempted to bring the situation under control. The chase came to an end when the driver lost control and crashed at the intersection of Ward Chapel Road and Pinegrove Road. No details have been released regarding injuries resulting from the crash. Following the wreck, authorities conducted a preliminary investigation and determined that the truck involved in the pursuit had been reported stolen. The identity of the driver has not yet been released, and it remains unclear what charges may be filed. The incident remains under investigation.
