Semmes, Ala. (BuzzReport) — Lott Road has reopened following a deadly crash Wednesday morning involving a patrol vehicle from the Semmes Police Department and a truck, authorities confirmed. The collision occurred along Lott Road in Semmes during the morning hours. Officials say the driver of the truck was pronounced dead at the scene. The Semmes police officer involved in the crash sustained severe injuries to their leg and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The officer’s current condition has not been released. Authorities have not yet identified either the truck driver or the officer, pending notification of family members. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is leading the investigation into the cause of the crash. The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, along with Semmes police, responded to the scene and assisted with traffic control and securing the area. Investigators have not said what circumstances led to the collision, and it remains unclear whether weather, speed, or other factors played a role. Officials are expected to release additional information as the investigation progresses. This remains an active and ongoing investigation.
