Black Council Members Celebrate Black History With Mobile Students at W.H.Council School

Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) — Mobile City Council President C.J. Small, District 1 Councilman Cory Penn, and District 2 Councilwoman Samantha Ingram visited W.H. Council Traditional School today to participate in the school’s annual Black History Program, celebrating the rich cultural heritage and enduring contributions of African Americans in the community and across the nation.

The event featured student performances highlighting the resilience, strength, and perseverance that have shaped generations. Students recited powerful works from renowned Black poets and paid tribute to trailblazers whose sacrifices and achievements paved the way for progress in civil rights, education, government, and the arts.

President Small and Councilwoman Ingram delivered remarks encouraging students to take pride in their history while striving for excellence in their academic and personal pursuits. Both leaders emphasized the importance of understanding the past as a foundation for building a stronger future.

Councilman Penn served as a judge for the student presentations, offering feedback and praise for the preparation, creativity, and passion displayed throughout the program.
