George County, MS (BuzzReport) – Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that stemmed from a reported domestic violence incident Friday night in the Central Community.

According to the George County Sheriff’s Office, dispatchers received a 911 call at approximately 8:27 p.m. on February 13 from a 57-year-old woman requesting deputies in reference to a domestic altercation and shooting at her residence in the 100 block of Brock Road in Central Community, George County MS.

Deputies responded to the scene and made contact with the caller. Outside the residence, they discovered a 60-year-old man deceased from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division were immediately requested to process the scene and begin a detailed inquiry.

The female caller was transported by ambulance under police escort to George County Regional Hospital for treatment of injuries reportedly sustained during the altercation. Following her release from the hospital, she was interviewed by investigators and subsequently released pending further investigation.

Authorities stated that, at this time, there is no evidence indicating that any other individuals were directly involved in the incident. Evidence was collected at the scene, and investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

No additional information is being released to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation. Officials say further details will be made public upon its conclusion.
