Franklin, Ala. (BuzzReport) — Authorities in Monroe County have confirmed the discovery of the body of Ovella Locke, a local woman who had been reported missing earlier this month. Monroe County Sheriff Tom Boatwright said the body was found along County Road 61 in the Franklin community. Ms. Locke had been missing since the night of January 23, 2026. According to Sheriff Boatwright, the case remains an active and ongoing investigation. Law enforcement officials are continuing to gather information, and no additional details have been released at this time. Further updates will be provided as information becomes available. Sheriff Boatwright expressed appreciation to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the Monroe County Rescue Squad, Monroe County Constable Robert Knight, Monroe County Constable Joey Castilow, Ontario Search & Recovery Canines, drone pilot Jackson Knight, and the many volunteers who assisted in the search efforts. He also acknowledged Ms. Locke’s family and friends for their cooperation and support throughout the search. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information related to this case to come forward and contact the Sheriff’s Office. Authorities also requested that the public keep the Locke family in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
