CLARKE COUNTY, Ala. (BuzzReport)- — Authorities are searching for a 23-year-old man in connection with a January 5 shooting in rural Clarke County that left an innocent woman injured after her vehicle was repeatedly struck by gunfire.
Law enforcement officials say the incident occurred around 8:20 p.m. when a black Chevrolet Malibu was fired upon as the victim was driving to work. Investigators allege that nearly 20 rounds of 5.56-caliber ammunition were discharged into the vehicle. The woman, described by police as an uninvolved bystander, was injured in the attack.
According to investigators, the suspects are believed to have mistaken the victim’s vehicle for one belonging to a rival gang member.
Authorities have identified Jalin Jequon Pace, 23, as a suspect in the shooting, along with Quenterio Washington. Pace is currently wanted on active warrants for Shooting Into an Occupied Vehicle and First-Degree Assault.
Police say that following the shooting, Pace fled to the Gibbs East Village Apartments in Montgomery. Investigators believe he may be hiding with friends or relatives and note that he has family connections in Huntsville and Silas, Alabama.
Pace is described as a Black male, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing about 135 pounds, with brown eyes and medium-length black dreadlocks.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about Pace’s whereabouts to contact CrimeStoppers at 215-STOP. All tips can be provided anonymously. A $2,500 cash reward is being offered for information leading to his arrest.
The investigation remains ongoing.
