Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) — Former City of Mobile Police Chief Paul Prine officially entered the race for Mobile County Sheriff on January 21, 2026, after registering with the Mobile County Republican Party.

Prine brings more than 30 years of public service to the race and is campaigning on what supporters describe as a proven record of leadership, accountability, and commitment to public safety. Throughout his career, Prine has emphasized results-driven law enforcement and professional standards.

In announcing his candidacy, Prine said his focus is on restoring confidence between law enforcement and the community through transparent, accountable, and professional leadership. His campaign highlights a commitment to keeping Mobile County safe while strengthening trust with the citizens the sheriff’s office serves.

The Mobile County primaries are scheduled for Tuesday, May 19th, and the sheriff’s race is expected to draw significant attention as public safety remains a top issue for voters across the county.
