Porch Pirate Strikes Three Homes on Sweetbriar Lane in Semmes

Semmes, AL (BuzzReport) – Authorities in Semmes are on the hunt for a package thief believed to have targeted three homes along Sweetbriar Lane in a single day. The suspect, captured on home security cameras, is connected to the disappearance of multiple deliveries from front porches on Monday. Investigators have identified the vehicle involved as a black Volkswagen Tiguan, which was spotted in the area during the thefts. 

The incidents have put residents on high alert, particularly with the rise of online shopping and doorstep deliveries. Police are urging homeowners to take proactive steps to protect their packages. Recommended measures include using lockable delivery boxes, requesting that carriers place parcels out of sight, arranging for deliveries to be left at back entrances when possible, or enlisting neighbors to pick up packages while recipients are away. Smaller items, in particular, can often be concealed to deter opportunistic thieves.
