Mobile, AL (BuzzReport)—A planned transaction involving collectible footwear ended in violence Monday evening when a male seller was robbed at gunpoint near the Village at Midtown complex.

The incident occurred just before 6:00 p.m. at 320 Stanton Road. The victim had arranged to meet with prospective buyers to exchange a pair of shoes, a type of high-value online transaction that has seen increased popularity and risk in recent years.

The exchange quickly escalated when two subjects confronted the seller. Both assailants displayed firearms, forcing the victim to surrender the merchandise before the suspects abruptly fled the area.

Officers from the Mobile Police Department were dispatched promptly at approximately 5:53 p.m. Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement discovered the male victim, who confirmed the details of the armed encounter. The responding officers initiated a perimeter search, but the two armed subjects had already left the vicinity.

The loss of property and the danger posed by the presence of handguns has underscored the risks associated with transactions scheduled via social media or resale apps.

The Mobile Police Department confirmed that the investigation into the armed robbery remains active. Due to the ongoing search for the individuals, authorities stated no further information regarding suspect descriptions or specific details of the stolen property will be released at this time. Detectives are aggressively working to identify and apprehend the two perpetrators.
