Mobile, Ala. (BuzzReport)— A quiet Thursday morning turned deadly in Mobile when a violent head-on collision claimed the life of a local woman and left another passenger critically injured. The crash occurred shortly before 8 a.m. on Bellingrath Road near Will Casher Lane, an area familiar to commuters for its narrow stretch bordered by pine woods. Authorities say officers arrived within minutes of receiving the emergency call, finding two heavily damaged pickup trucks — a Dodge Ram and a Chevrolet Silverado — blocking the roadway. The driver of the Silverado, an adult female, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her rear-seat passenger, whose identity has not been released, was rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Preliminary findings indicate the Dodge Ram had been traveling southbound when it unexpectedly crossed the center turn lane, slamming into the oncoming Silverado. The force of the impact scattered debris along the roadside, backing up traffic for nearly two hours as investigators examined the scene. Police have withheld the name of the deceased pending notification of her family. The condition of the Dodge Ram’s driver has not been disclosed, and no charges have been announced at this stage. “This is a devastating incident for the families involved and for our community,” said a spokesperson for the Mobile Police Department. “We’re working to determine what caused the Ram to leave its lane.” Motorists in the area described seeing flashing lights and emergency crews working in the cool morning air. “It looked bad — you could tell right away this wasn’t just a fender bender,” said a nearby resident who drove past the scene. The investigation remains active, and officials are urging anyone who witnessed the crash to contact the Mobile Police Department’s traffic unit.
