FATAL EARLY MORNING WRECK SHATTERS LIVES, LEADS TO ARREST IN MOBILE

MOBILE, AL – Tragedy struck the Mobile community in the early hours of Tuesday morning following a single-vehicle crash that resulted in the death of a juvenile and the critical injury of a second young passenger. The harrowing accident, which occurred just after midnight, has led to the immediate arrest of the adult female driver.

Law enforcement officers responded to the intersection of Howells Ferry Road and Schillinger Road at approximately 12:45 a.m. The scene presented a devastating tableau: a vehicle that had veered off the roadway, colliding directly with a light pole. Initial assessments indicated the speed and force of the impact were substantial.

The two male juvenile passengers inside the vehicle sustained injuries deemed life-threatening by emergency medical personnel. Both victims were immediately transported to a local medical facility in a desperate attempt to stabilize their conditions. Despite the efforts of medical teams, one of the young victims was pronounced deceased a short time after arriving at the hospital. The condition of the second juvenile remains critical.

The driver, identified as Delyshia Molette, 34, was evaluated at the scene. Authorities confirmed that Molette was not injured in the collision. Following standard procedure, she was taken into custody by the responding officers. Molette was subsequently transported to Metro Jail, where she faces charges related to the deadly incident.

The specialized Traffic Homicide Unit has taken control of the investigation, meticulously working to reconstruct the events leading up to the vehicle leaving the road. While the Mobile Police Department has halted the release of any further information regarding the case, the focus now shifts to the circumstances that placed the minor victims in the vehicle and the factors contributing to the catastrophic crash during the late night hours. The arrest marks the beginning of a complex legal process stemming from a preventable loss of life.
