New Orleans, LA (BuzzReport)– The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) is actively investigating the discovery of an unidentified male whose body was recovered from Lake Pontchartrain this Saturday afternoon. The remains were found floating in the water, specifically behind a condominium complex located in the 7300 block of Lakeshore Drive, within the West End neighborhood.

Levee District Police were the first on the scene and alerted the NOPD at approximately 12:34 p.m. Upon their arrival, authorities confirmed that the individual was deceased. The death has been classified as “unclassified,” a designation indicating that the precise cause and manner of death are still under thorough examination.

The NOPD is treating this incident with the seriousness it warrants and has initiated a comprehensive investigation. Detectives are meticulously gathering evidence and canvassing the area for any potential witnesses or relevant information that could shed light on the circumstances surrounding this discovery.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office is expected to conduct an autopsy in the coming days. This crucial procedure will aim to establish the deceased’s identity, approximate age, and the definitive cause of death.
