PRICHARD, AL — A months-long homicide investigation led by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office culminated this week with the arrest of a suspect connected to a fatal shooting that rocked the Prichard community.

Authorities identified 41-year-old JT Williams as the man facing a murder charge in the death of Willie Cook. Williams was detained and formally charged with one count of murder, bringing closure to a case initiated earlier in October.

The tragic incident began unfolding just before 6 a.m. on October 11 when law enforcement was dispatched to the area of Cato Avenue and O’Neill Street. Prichard Police Department officers arrived to find 46-year-old Willie Cook deceased at the scene. He had sustained severe gunshot wounds to the left side of his chest and left arm.

Mobile County Sheriff’s Deputies quickly inherited the complex investigation. Detectives determined early in the process that the actual shooting incident occurred at a location different from where Cook’s body was discovered—a detail that compounded the challenge of tracking forensic evidence and reconstructing the victim’s final moments.

The persistent efforts of the investigative team eventually led directly to Williams. His arrest represents a definitive turning point in the case, securing a suspect in custody for the violent weekend killing. Williams remains incarcerated awaiting further judicial proceedings on the standing murder charge.
