Crime scene do not cross tape.

Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) — A late-night ride in Mobile turned traumatic Monday evening when a woman was assaulted near the intersection of Nevius Road and Oak Ridge Drive after she bravely refused to comply with a robbery demand from an acquaintance.

The incident occurred shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Monday, October 6, 2025, prompting a rapid response from Mobile Police Department (MPD) officers.

According to preliminary reports released Tuesday morning, officers were dispatched to the residential area on the city’s west side following calls reporting a robbery. Upon arrival, MPD personnel met with the victim, who had managed to escape her assailant.

The victim informed police that she had been riding in a vehicle with a subject known to her when the situation suddenly escalated. The acquaintance allegedly demanded her property, initiating the attempted robbery.

In a moment of striking defiance, the victim refused to surrender her belongings. This refusal triggered a physical assault, during which the suspect forcibly removed her from the vehicle.

The Mobile Police Department confirmed that the victim sustained a minor, non-life-threatening injury during the altercation. She was transported by local emergency services to a nearby hospital for treatment and evaluation.

The fact that the suspect was a “known subject” raises significant concerns regarding domestic or acquaintance violence, differing from typical random street crime and potentially complicating the investigation. Police have not released any identifying information about the suspect, citing the active nature of the case.

“This remains an active investigation,” an MPD spokesperson confirmed in a brief statement released early Tuesday. “We are currently following up on leads, and no further information regarding the suspect or the details of the ongoing investigation will be released at this time.”

Authorities are urging anyone in the Nevius Road and Oak Ridge Drive vicinity who might have witnessed the incident or has relevant security camera footage from Monday night to contact the Mobile Police Department immediately.
