An early morning calm at Mobile’s upscale Bay Shore Towers was dramatically broken Saturday when a brazen robbery unfolded, culminating in the arrest of a 65-year-old suspect after he allegedly stole from one victim and then compelled another to walk down the road with him.

At approximately 8:15 a.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2025, Mobile Police Department officers responded to reports of a robbery in the vicinity of 300 Bay Shore Towers. Upon their arrival, the scene revealed a harrowing sequence of events.

According to preliminary reports, a male subject first targeted a female victim, reportedly snatching her purse and absconding with an undisclosed sum of money. The incident took a more alarming turn when the same suspect then allegedly forced a male victim to walk a distance down the road with him, raising immediate concerns for the victim’s safety.

Police quickly launched an investigation, canvassing the area and gathering descriptions. The prompt response led to the identification and apprehension of 65-year-old Carl Porter. Porter was taken into custody without further incident and transported to Metro Jail, where he is currently being held.

Details surrounding the motivations behind the forced walk remain unclear, and authorities have not yet released information regarding the specific charges Porter will face. However, it is expected he will be charged with robbery, and potentially other offenses depending on the full scope of the investigation into the incident involving the male victim.

The victims, whose identities have not been released, are believed to be physically unharmed but are likely shaken by the traumatic experience. Police have not disclosed the exact amount of money stolen from the female victim’s purse.

The Mobile Police Department urges anyone with additional information regarding this incident to contact them as the investigation remains ongoing.
