GULFPORT, MS (BuzzReport) – A 15-year-old Gulfport resident is being held on a $1,000,000 bond after his arrest in connection with a dangerous incident involving a school bus earlier this week. Kaiden Jeremiah Ashford faces charges for possessing a handgun on school property and shooting at a vehicle, according to the Gulfport Police Department.

The incident occurred on August 18, 2025, at approximately 4:05 p.m., when Gulfport officers were dispatched to the vicinity of Turnberry Avenue and George Street following reports of a person with a gun.

An immediate investigation revealed that Ashford had been involved in a verbal altercation with fellow students while riding a school bus. During this dispute, police assert Ashford was in possession of a firearm. Upon exiting the bus, Ashford allegedly brandished the weapon and discharged it several times in the direction of the bus before fleeing the scene.

Gulfport Police moved swiftly, apprehending Ashford on August 20, 2025. He has been formally charged with one count of Possession of a Handgun on School Property and one count of Shooting at a Vehicle.

Following his arrest, Ashford was processed and transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center. Judge Diane Ladner set the significant bond of $1,000,000, underscoring the serious nature of the alleged offenses.
