ANDERSON COUNTY, SC (BuzzReport)– A former Anderson County teacher has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies following a prolonged inappropriate relationship with a minor that allegedly spanned several years. Nicole Ballew Callaham, 33, voluntarily surrendered to authorities on Thursday morning. Callaham faces three counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor and one count of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, according to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation, initiated in May 2025, uncovered evidence indicating the alleged misconduct began as early as 2021 and continued for at least two years with a then-teenage boy. Detectives contend that Callaham, who was an Anderson County school teacher at the time, engaged in grooming behavior toward the boy during his early teenage years. The relationship reportedly intensified as Callaham utilized her position to facilitate repeated interactions with the student. Investigators allege she signed the student out of school, transported him to practices, and served as a supervisor for after-school activities. These interactions are cited as leading to a prolonged pattern of abuse. Evidence supporting the charges was gathered through search warrants and ongoing cooperation with the victim’s family. Authorities stated the victim decided to come forward after turning 18, following a period spent processing the experience and associated trauma. The scope of the investigation has expanded beyond Anderson County. The Greenville City Police Department has filed similar charges against Callaham, indicating the alleged conduct extended into their jurisdiction as the victim attended school in Greenville. A parallel investigation is also currently underway by the Clemson City Police Department. Callaham has since resigned from her position. Anderson School District Five has acknowledged awareness of the charges and the ongoing investigation by the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office. Callaham surrendered herself to the Anderson County Detention Center on Thursday morning. A bond hearing is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. today.
