MOBILE, AL (BuzzReport) – A Mobile County man is behind bars after a traffic stop led to the discovery of methamphetamine and other charges. Jeffery Scott Howard, 56, was arrested early Friday morning and now faces serious allegations, including trafficking in methamphetamine. The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) conducted the traffic stop near the intersection of Old Pascagoula Road and March Road at approximately 12:30 a.m. Deputies initially discovered that Howard, a front-seat passenger in the vehicle, had an outstanding felony warrant for possession of a controlled substance. A subsequent search of Howard’s person uncovered approximately 46.6 grams of methamphetamine, along with a small quantity of marijuana. Recognizing the severity of the discovery, deputies contacted a narcotics detective who responded to the scene to assume control of the investigation. As a result of the investigation, Jeffery Scott Howard has been formally charged with: Felony Warrant: Possession of a Controlled Substance Trafficking in Methamphetamine (ICE) Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree Howard was booked into Metro Jail and is currently awaiting further legal proceedings. The investigation remains ongoing and additional details will be released as they become available.
