MEMPHIS, Tenn. (BuzzReport)- A Memphis FedEx employee has been arrested and charged with theft after allegedly stealing a package containing four one-ounce gold bars worth over $13,500. According to the Memphis Police Department, Antwone Tate is accused of pawning the gold bars at a local pawn shop. The investigation began when a company reported a package arriving with missing items. FedEx Loss Prevention launched a probe and determined that the package, which contained the gold bars, was scanned into the Memphis FedEx Hub on May 14. Investigators discovered that Tate had pawned an extensive amount of jewelry and precious metals at a local pawn shop since January, including the gold bars in question. Tate, who had access to the package as a FedEx employee, was arrested and charged with theft of property between $10,000 and $60,000. The Memphis Police Department is handling the case.
