Hoover, AL. (BuzzReport) – A 27-year-old Hoover resident was taken into custody early Thursday morning for allegedly impersonating a police officer. James Andrew Gray was arrested after multiple reports were filed claiming someone in a black SUV was attempting to pull over motorists using flashing red and blue lights.

According to police, one victim reported being forced to stop on Greystone Way after the suspect activated the lights and produced a badge. The victim became suspicious and drove away, contacting 911.

Responding officers located a black GMC Yukon matching the description and found evidence supporting the allegations, including a red and blue dash light, three firearms, a DEA hat, and three fake badges.

Gray was arrested and charged with impersonating a peace officer, with a $5,000 bond. He was transferred to the Shelby County Jail .

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the case or who may have been stopped by Gray to contact Sergeant Reggie Parker at 205-739-7448.
