Sean “Diddy” Combs Says No To Guilty Plea Offer Ahead of Trial

On Thursday, Sean “Diddy” Combs formally declined the government’s proposal to plead guilty, a decision that could lead to a lengthy prison sentence if found guilty at trial.

In response to Judge Arun Subramanian’s inquiry regarding the plea offer from federal prosecutors, Combs stated, “Yes I do, your honor,” reaffirming his rejection.

Combs is expected to stand trial starting Monday, with jury selection set to begin. He faces serious charges including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and prostitution, stemming from allegations that he coerced women into what he referred to as “freak-offs.”

Assistant United States Attorney Maurene Comey emphasized that accepting the plea would have significantly lessened the potential prison time for Combs compared to the severe penalties he could face if convicted on all counts—a scenario that may lead to a life sentence.

During a brief conference, Geragos raised issues regarding remarks made by Los Angeles-based attorney Lisa Bloom, who represents some of Combs’ civil accusers. Geragos expressed concern about her conduct related to the case, urging the court to address the implications of her statements in a documentary.

Judge Subramanian assured that he would remind all involved parties, including counsel and witnesses, to follow rules of professional conduct and to refrain from making potentially prejudicial comments, thereby safeguarding Combs’ right to a fair trial.
