MOBILE, Ala. (BuzzReport) — A growing partnership between Ransom Solutions and the City of Mobile’s Department of Public Safety is delivering measurable results across the city—removing thousands of pounds of waste from neighborhoods while helping members of the unhoused community take meaningful steps toward stability.

Through the city’s Road2Work program, Ransom Solutions crews collected 8,406 pounds of litter in March 2026 alone, along with multiple trailer loads of bulky debris, including wood, scrap metal, and discarded tires. City officials say the effort not only improves the appearance of local communities but also reduces potential safety risks and environmental hazards.

The initiative is part of a broader strategy to address both cleanliness and quality of life issues across Mobile. By targeting high-traffic corridors and underserved areas, crews are making visible improvements that residents can see firsthand.

In addition to traditional waste removal, the partnership is also tackling the growing challenge of electronic waste. During March, 3,935 pounds of e-waste were collected at City of Mobile Recycling Centers and processed at Ransom Solutions’ facility. The program provides residents with a free and responsible way to dispose of outdated or unwanted electronics, preventing hazardous materials from entering local landfills.

Officials emphasize that the impact of the program goes beyond environmental benefits. Both the Road2Work and recycling initiatives are designed to create opportunities for individuals experiencing homelessness. Participants are offered paid work, job training, and access to critical support services aimed at long-term stability.

So far in 2026, 20 program participants have successfully secured housing, a milestone city leaders say highlights the effectiveness of combining workforce development with social services.

The City of Mobile’s Office of Resilience and Sustainability, along with its Homeless Outreach Team, has played a key role in coordinating these efforts. By aligning resources and focusing on both immediate needs and long-term outcomes, the partnership is helping to address some of the city’s most pressing challenges.

Leaders involved in the program say the results demonstrate what can be achieved when public agencies and private organizations work together with a shared purpose.

As the initiative continues, officials remain optimistic that sustained collaboration will not only keep Mobile cleaner but also provide more individuals with a pathway out of homelessness—one job, and one life, at a time.
