Homewood, AL (BuzzReport) — Authorities continue investigating an apparent murder-suicide that occurred Monday night at Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital’s Women’s Medical Center.
According to the Homewood Police Department, officers were dispatched to Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital’s Women’s Medical Center at approximately 9:25 p.m. after receiving reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located an adult woman and an adult man, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the woman as Precious Elicia J’anae Johnson, 24, a resident of Birmingham. Johnson had recently given birth, authorities confirmed.
The man was identified as Kynath William Terry Jr., 19, of Midfield.
Police said the preliminary investigation indicates the incident was an apparent murder-suicide. No additional victims were reported, and officials stated there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The investigation remains active. Authorities have not released further details regarding a motive and said additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
