MOSS POINT, MS (BuzzReport) — Chief Dennis Stevenson opened the doors of the Moss Point Police Department this week, welcoming residents into the municipal courtroom for a community forum aimed at strengthening trust and collaboration between law enforcement and the public.

The event, titled “A Chat with the Chief,” gave community members a direct line of communication with the city’s top law enforcement official, allowing them to voice concerns, share ideas, and discuss solutions for building a safer Moss Point.

During the open discussion, residents spoke candidly about issues affecting their neighborhoods, from crime prevention strategies to improving police visibility and response times. Chief Stevenson emphasized the importance of transparency and partnership in effective policing.

“We had the opportunity to hear some concerns from our citizens — those who we protect and serve — because I realized we cannot do this alone,” Stevenson said. “It’s going to take a collective effort, and they were honest and open, and we’re going to take that information and try to prioritize our policing here in this community.”

The forum reflects a broader effort by the Moss Point Police Department to foster community-oriented policing and rebuild trust through direct engagement. By hosting the discussion inside the municipal courtroom, the department symbolically underscored its commitment to accountability and open dialogue.

Chief Stevenson announced that “A Chat with the Chief” will become a monthly event, creating an ongoing platform for residents to stay informed and involved in public safety efforts.

City officials say the initiative is part of a long-term strategy to ensure community voices play a meaningful role in shaping public safety priorities across Moss Point.
